BSI Hong Kong held the 1st “Asset Management PAS 55:2008” conference on 20th March 2009 as a platform for exchange of experiences and insights on the topic asset management in various industries and services.
The conference was one of first steps of BSI Hong Kong’s plan to promote best practices in the management of physical assets for the industry. BSI was delighted to be able to gather an impressive group of distinguished speakers from reputable organizations such as Towngas, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, MTR Hong Kong, Industrial and Plant Engineering Institution of Guangzhou, China, Atkins China Hong Kong and BSI to share their experience and views on asset management.
The Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 55 was first published in 2004, the latest version was just reviewed and published in last year September to response to demand from industry for a standard for asset management. It is applicable to any organization where physical assets are a key or a critical factor in achieving its business goals.
Over 90 participants from sectors of government, utility, property management, construction and contractor were attended at the conference. It was hoped that the standard could work alongside existing management systems such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001.
